Update note (1 November 2026): We first wrote this on 15 July 2026, when IAF Agniveervayu applications were still open. Since then, most entries in the Latest Defence Recruitment 2026 cycle have moved from “apply” to “results and next stage”. This update covers everything through 1 November 2026 and shows what to apply for next.

If you want to join the forces, the question today is not “what is open” but “what opens next.” Among the Army, Navy and Air Force vacancies of 2026, the next big chances are close. The AFCAT 01/2027 notification is expected this month, and UPSC has scheduled the NDA I 2027 notification and the CDS I 2027 notification for 2 December 2026.

Latest Defence Recruitment 2026: What Has Happened Since 15 July

• 12 July: Army Agniveer CEE result declared, just before our first post.
• 20 July onwards: Army Agniveer physical rallies began zone by zone, for example in Mumbai and Rohtak.
• 26 July: IAF Agniveervayu 02/2027 applications closed.
• 1 to 8 August: Army rally for the Chennai/Puducherry region.
• 8 August: AFCAT 02/2026 exam held.
• 9 September: AFCAT 02/2026 result declared. Qualified candidates move to AFSB.
• 11 September: Agniveervayu 02/2027 exam city slip released.
• 13 September: NDA & NA (II) and CDS (II) written exams held.
• 17 September: Navy Agniveer SSR/MR Stage-I (INET) result declared.
• 19 September: Agniveervayu 02/2027 admit card released.
• 22 to 23 September: Agniveervayu 02/2027 Phase-I online exam.
• 26 September to 6 October: Army rally for the Una, Hamirpur and Bilaspur region.
• 9 October: UPSC NDA & NA (II) written result declared.
• 19 October: UPSC CDS (II) written result declared.

Where Each 2026 Entry Stands Today (1 November 2026)

Army Agniveer 2026-27

• The CEE result has been out since 12 July, and rallies are running region by region.
• Check your Army Recruiting Office (ARO) page on Join Indian Army for your rally date.
• Sepoy Pharma and Nursing Assistant rallies were set for October. Chhattisgarh GD rallies are set for January 2027.

Navy Agniveer SSR/MR (01/2027 and 02/2027)

• Stage-I (INET) result declared on 17 September.
• Next: physical fitness test, written exam and medical. Details are on Join Indian Navy.

IAF Agniveervayu 02/2027

• Phase-I exam was held on 22 and 23 September.
• I could not confirm the result date, so check your candidate login on the CASB Agniveervayu portal.

AFCAT 02/2026 (379 tentative vacancies)

• Result declared on 9 September. Next is the AFSB interview, then medical. The course starts in July 2027.

NDA & NA (II) 2026 (394 vacancies)

• Written result declared on 9 October. Next is the SSB interview.

CDS (II) 2026 (451 vacancies)

• Written result declared on 19 October. Next are the SSB interview and medical.

What to Apply for Next

AFCAT 01/2027

• Notification is expected in November 2026. Last year it came on 10 November 2025, with the exam on 31 January 2026.
• Status: expected, not yet confirmed. Watch the official Air Force site.

NDA & NA (I) 2027 and CDS (I) 2027

• Notification: 2 December 2026
• Last date: 22 December 2026
• Exam: 11 April 2027

NDA & CDS (II) 2027

• Notification 12 May 2027, last date 1 June 2027, exam 19 September 2027.

Likely next (based on this year’s pattern, not official)

• Agniveervayu: around January 2027
• Army Agniveer 2027-28: around February 2027
• Navy Agniveer SSR/MR: around March 2027

UPSC says dates can change, so confirm each one when the notification is published.

Army: What Is Happening Now

The 2026-27 Army Agniveer registration closed on 1 April, the online CEE was held in June, and the result came on 12 July. The physical stage is now where the action is. Each ARO announces its own rally dates, so one region may be done while another is still to come.

What to do: Download your rally admit card, read the instructions for your ARO and carry original documents. If you missed this cycle, start running and strength work now for the 2027 notification.

Navy: Stage-II Is the Next Hurdle

Navy Agniveer SSR and MR candidates for the 01/2027 and 02/2027 batches took the INET in May, and the Stage-I result came on 17 September. Those who qualified now face the physical fitness test, a written exam and the recruitment medical. Selected candidates train at INS Chilka, Odisha. The reported monthly package is roughly ₹30,000 to ₹40,000.

Air Force: Agniveervayu Exam Done, AFCAT Result Out

• Agniveervayu 02/2027: The online exam was held on 22 and 23 September. The same schedule also covered Airmen Group Y (Medical Assistant). Watch your candidate login for the Phase-I result.
• AFCAT 02/2026: Result declared on 9 September. Qualified candidates will be called for the AFSB interview. If you did not clear it, AFCAT 01/2027 is your next attempt.

Officer Entries: NDA and CDS

The NDA II and CDS II written exams were both held on 13 September 2026. The NDA result came on 9 October and the CDS result on 19 October. Qualified candidates now go to the SSB. Official cut-offs are published separately, so do not trust unofficial numbers.

NDA & NA

• For Class 12 pass candidates.
• 394 vacancies in 2026 (II).
• Leads to the Army, Navy and Air Force wings of NDA, and the Naval Academy.

CDS

• For graduates.
• 451 vacancies in 2026 (II).
• Leads to IMA, INA, AFA and OTA.

If you are starting fresh, NDA I and CDS I 2027 are your next chances.

Our Take: How We Would Plan the Next Two Months

Most candidates lose a cycle by waiting for the notification before starting. Here is what we would do.

• If you want NDA or CDS: Finish the syllabus by January, then take timed mocks every week until April.
• If you want AFCAT: Revise English, reasoning and general awareness now, and keep your documents ready so you can apply in the first week.
• If you want Agniveer in 2027: Build running and strength first. Many candidates clear the written test but lose out in the physical stage.
• If you are already in a selection stage: Spend your time on the next round: SSB, AFSB, PFT or medical.

Eligibility at a Glance

Agniveer (Army, Navy, Air Force)

• Class 10 or 12, depending on the post.
• Age about 17.5 to 21 years.

NDA

• Class 12.
• Age about 16.5 to 19.5 years.

CDS (IMA)

• Graduation.
• Age about 19 to 24 years.

AFCAT

• Graduation.
• Age 20 to 24 for Flying, 20 to 26 for Ground Duty.

Age limits are counted by date of birth and change slightly each year. Always read the age rule in the official notification before you apply.

Selection Process in Short

• Agniveer: Online exam, physical fitness test, physical measurements, medical test, document check, merit list.
• NDA, CDS, AFCAT: Written exam, SSB or AFSB interview, medical test, final merit.

Salary and Benefits

• Agniveer: A monthly package that rises over four years, plus the Seva Nidhi corpus at exit. Up to 25% can be absorbed into the regular cadre after four years.
• CDS officers: Pay in the ₹56,100 to ₹1,77,500 range (Level 10) with allowances.
• AFCAT officers: Level 10 plus Military Service Pay.

4. Fill in your details exactly as on your certificates.

6. Pay the fee only on the official portal.
7. Download and keep the confirmation page.
