Do you hold a heavy-vehicle licence and want a government job in uniform? MP Police Constable Driver Recruitment 2026 has opened 1,000 posts for men: 200 in the Special Armed Force and 800 in the district force. You can apply from 15 to 29 October 2026 on the official MPESB website.

Here is the catch. Your documents are checked only later, so a mistake you make today can cost you at the document stage, months from now. This guide tells you what the official rulebook says, in plain words.

Who Can Apply for MP Police Constable Driver Recruitment 2026?

Check these 5 things before you fill the form.

1. Licence. A heavy-vehicle driving licence is compulsory. The rulebook gives no minimum years of experience, so don’t assume one. Have every certificate ready by 29 October 2026.

2. Education. Class 10 pass (or higher secondary or equivalent) for UR, SC and OBC. Class 8 pass for ST.

3. Age on 29 October 2026. The minimum is 18. The maximum depends on who you are:

  • 33 years: unreserved and EWS candidates of MP, and every candidate from another state.
  • 38 years (MP domicile only): SC/ST/OBC candidates, government/corporation/board employees, Nagar Sainik with 3 years’ active service, and inter-caste marriage incentive cases.
  • Vikram Award winners: 5 extra years (38 unreserved, 43 reserved).
  • Ex-servicemen: subtract your defence service from your age, but you can’t end up more than 3 years above the upper limit.

If you qualify for more than one relaxation, you get only the one that helps you most.

4. Domicile. Candidates who are not MP domiciles can apply only in the open category, with no reservation and no age relaxation.

5. Family rule. Anyone with more than two living children, one of them born on or after 26 January 2001, is not eligible. The police department is also exempt from recruiting persons with disabilities under a 1995 circular.

5 Mistakes That Can Get Your Form Rejected

The rulebook is strict about the form itself, so read this part twice.

  1. Applying as reserved without MP domicile. Reservation and age relaxation work only for MP domiciles. Others must apply in the open category.
  2. A bad photo. It must be a clear front-facing colour photo with a white background and both ears visible. It must not be older than 3 months, and it needs the date and your name on it. A photo with black glasses is not accepted. If you are bearded or clean-shaven in the photo, you must look the same in the exam hall.
  3. A wrong signature. It must be full and clear. Short signatures, capital-letter signatures or more than one signature are not accepted.
  4. Skipping the handwritten declaration. You must write the prescribed declaration in your own handwriting and upload it. Without it, the form is not accepted.
  5. Losing your application number. Your admit card is downloaded with it, and keeping it safe is your responsibility.

What It Costs

The fee for MP Police Constable Driver Recruitment 2026 has three parts: the MPESB exam fee, a police departmental fee and a portal fee.

FeeUnreservedMP-domicile SC/ST/OBC/EWS
MPESB exam fee₹500₹250
Police departmental fee₹200₹100

On top of this is the MP Online portal fee: ₹60 through a kiosk, or ₹20 through your own registered citizen login. The rulebook doesn’t print one combined total, so trust the amount on the payment page.

Corrections cost ₹20 plus a ₹40 portal fee each time. If you change from reserved to unreserved, you pay the difference. If you change the other way, the fee concession is not refunded.

How the Selection Works

The selection process for MP Police Constable Driver Recruitment 2026 has two stages: an online written test by MPESB, then physical and document tests by the police department.

Stage 1: online written test (MPESB)

  • 100 multiple-choice questions, 100 marks, 2 hours.
  • +1 for each correct answer, no negative marking.
  • General knowledge and reasoning: 40 marks. Mental ability and aptitude: 30 marks. Science and simple arithmetic: 30 marks.
  • The level is Class 8 of the MP Board. Start with our MP Police constable syllabus and preparation guide.

The rulebook says “Hindi” in one place and “Hindi/English” in another, so confirm the exam language on the portal. Because the exam runs in two shifts, scores are normalised using the NEP percentile method.

Stage 2: police department tests

Candidates equal to seven times the vertical-category posts are shortlisted by Stage 1 percentile. Then come:

  • 800 m run (40 marks, one attempt only). Full marks need a time under 124.2 seconds (146.5 seconds for Home Guard and ex-servicemen). You need at least 20% marks in the run and at least 8 out of 40 overall.
  • Trade test. A practical test that is qualifying only.
  • Document verification, medical examination and character verification.

Final selection depends on passing the physical and trade tests plus your Stage 1 percentile. Home Guard candidates are exempt from the written test. They are ranked on service-period marks (5, 10 or 15) and then take the physical test. A 15% waiting list is kept for one year or until the next result.

Physical Standards

District force

CategoryHeightChest (unexpanded / expanded)
UR, SC, OBC168 cm81 cm / 86 cm
ST160 cm76 cm / 81 cm

Special Armed Force: 168 cm for UR/OBC and 165 cm for SC/ST, with chest 79/84 cm. Some groups such as Gorkha and Garhwali have lower height limits, so check the rulebook for your unit.

If your chest is above the minimum, you must still expand it by at least 5 cm. No relaxation is given in physical standards.

Exam Day Checklist

  • Reporting: 8:00 to 9:00 am for the morning shift (exam 10:00 am to 12:00 pm), 1:00 to 2:00 pm for the afternoon shift (exam 3:00 to 5:00 pm). Late entry is not allowed.
  • Admit card from esb.mp.gov.in, a black ballpoint pen and an original photo ID (Voter ID, PAN, Aadhaar card, driving licence or passport).
  • Biometric verification is compulsory, and your Aadhaar must be unlocked. You can manage this on the UIDAI website.
  • No phone, calculator, watch or sunglasses in the exam room.

The rulebook is inconsistent on e-Aadhaar: page 1 accepts a UIDAI-verified e-Aadhaar, but Chapter 2 says e-Aadhaar is not valid. Carry a physical original ID to be safe.

After You’re Selected

  • You serve a three-year probation, getting 70%, 80% and 90% of the minimum pay in years one, two and three.
  • You will not be posted in your home district.
  • You must serve at least five years in your unit before asking for a transfer.
  • Recruits joining on or after 1 January 2005 come under the defined contribution pension system.

How to Apply

  1. Open esb.mp.gov.in, or go to mponline.gov.in → Citizen Services → Application → ESB.
  2. Fill in your Aadhaar number, marksheet details, body identification mark, unit preferences and four exam-city preferences.
  3. Upload your photo, signature and handwritten declaration.
