What Is NIFTEE 2027 and Who Conducts It?
NIFTEE stands for National Institute of Fashion Technology Entrance Examination. It is the entrance route to NIFT’s programmes for the 2027–28 academic session. NTA conducts it on behalf of NIFT, so candidates apply on NTA’s examination portal and not through a separate NIFT form.
Stage 1 covers undergraduate, postgraduate, lateral entry, Artisans and Ph.D. admissions. The test components and later selection stages follow the NIFT Admissions Guidelines 2027.
NIFTEE 2027 Application Form: Important Dates and What They Mean
Registration began on 16 October 2026. To pay only the applicable fee, complete the NIFTEE 2027 Application Form by 16 November 2026. The notice does not state the fee amount, so check the Information Bulletin for the figure that applies to your category.
A second window follows. Applications are accepted until 21 November 2026 with a late fee of ₹5,000, charged in addition to the applicable application fee. That ₹5,000 is an extra charge, not the total cost of applying. Applying by 16 November saves you the amount and the stress of a last-week rush.
From 22 to 25 November 2026, candidates can correct particulars of the form, online only. Treat this as a safety net for genuine mistakes, not as extra time to apply.
The rest of the schedule looks like this:
- 21 December 2026: Advance City Intimation Slip
- 4 January 2027: Admit card download
- 10 January 2027: Entrance examination
- To be announced: Recorded responses, answer keys and the Stage 1 result
Which Courses Are Covered Under NIFTEE 2027?
NIFTEE 2027 Stage 1 covers admissions to:
- UG programmes: B.Des. and B.F.Tech.
- PG programmes: M.Des., M.F.M. and M.F.Tech.
- NLEA (NIFT Lateral Entry Admissions): B.Des. (Lateral Entry) and B.F.Tech. (Lateral Entry)
- Artisans Category: for B.Des.
- Ph.D. programmes
Ph.D. candidates must appear for a Written Test conducted by NIFT, followed by a Research Proposal Presentation and Interview (RPPI), also conducted by NIFT.
NIFTEE 2027 Eligibility: What Candidates Must Check
The notice does not list eligibility conditions itself. It asks candidates to check age, educational qualifications, subject combinations (where applicable) and category-specific criteria in the NIFT Admissions Guidelines 2027 and the NIFTEE 2027 Information Bulletin. Reading both before applying is strongly advised.
NRI, Foreign National, OCI, PIO and SAARC category candidates may apply as per NIFT norms in the Admissions Guidelines. Rules can differ from one programme to another, so confirm your eligibility before paying any fee.

Applications are accepted online only, through the NTA examination portal. These steps are general guidance, so follow the portal’s instructions wherever they differ:
- Visit the official NIFTEE portal and open the NIFTEE 2027 registration link.
- Read the Information Bulletin and NIFT Admissions Guidelines 2027.
- Check eligibility for your chosen programme.
- Fill in the requested personal, academic and programme details.
- Upload your recent photograph, signature and other applicable documents in the prescribed format and size.
- Pay the applicable fee.
- Review every field, then submit.
- Save a copy of the confirmation page and payment receipt.
Two details from the notice deserve attention. Aadhaar-based e-KYC and a live photograph may be required during the application process, so keep your Aadhaar details ready. PwD/PwBD candidates must upload a valid UDID Card in the prescribed format, so scan it early.
A practical tip: start the NIFTEE 2027 Application Form a few days before the deadline, not on the last evening. Upload errors and slow portals are easier to handle when time is on your side.
Exam Mode and Important Examination Details
The exam will use two modes: a Computer Based Test (CBT) for GAT and a Pen-and-Paper Based Test (PBT) for CAT. The notice does not say which test applies to which programme, so the Information Bulletin is the place to confirm this.
The exam will be conducted in Hindi and English, as applicable. Your centre, date and shift will be printed on the admit card, available from 4 January 2027. The Advance City Intimation Slip on 21 December 2026 tells you your exam city early, which helps with travel and stay planning.
