Eligibility Criteria
Education. Candidates need a 12th (+2 stage) pass or equivalent from a recognised board, with at least 50% marks in aggregate. The 50% condition is not insisted upon for SC, ST, persons with benchmark disabilities (PwBD), ex-servicemen, and candidates holding qualifications higher than 12th. The qualification must be held by 13 November 2026; candidates awaiting results should not apply.
Age. The age limit for all four posts is 18 to 30 years as on 1 January 2027. For General and EWS candidates, the date of birth must fall between 2 January 1997 and 1 January 2009. The upper limit is relaxed by 3 years for OBC-NCL and 5 years for SC/ST, with further relaxations for other groups listed in the notification. Relaxations are not cumulative.
Medical fitness. Candidates must meet the post’s medical standard. Those who have had Lasik or similar surgery are not eligible for Trains Clerk (A3).
Application Fee
The fee depends on category:
- ₹500 for all candidates not covered below. ₹400 is refunded, after bank charges, on appearing in the 1st Stage CBT.
- ₹250 for SC, ST, ex-servicemen, PwBD, female, transgender, minority and Economically Backward Class (EBC) candidates. This is refunded, after bank charges, on appearing in the 1st Stage CBT.
Payment is online only (net banking, cards or UPI). Applications without the fee are rejected. Refunds go to an Aadhaar-seeded bank account. EBC is distinct from OBC and EWS.
Selection Process and Exam Pattern
Selection has three stages: 1st Stage CBT, 2nd Stage CBT, and Document Verification with Medical Examination. Both tests are objective, with one-third negative marking.
| Stage | Duration | Questions | Sections |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1st Stage CBT | 90 minutes | 100 | General Awareness 40, Mathematics 30, Reasoning 30 |
| 2nd Stage CBT | 90 minutes | 120 | General Awareness 50, Mathematics 35, Reasoning 35 |
PwBD candidates with a scribe get 120 minutes. Candidates equal to 15 times the community-wise vacancies reach the 2nd Stage, and candidates equal to the vacancies go to document verification. Minimum qualifying marks are 40% for UR and EWS, 30% for OBC-NCL and SC, and 25% for ST.
The typing skill test for the two typist posts has been dispensed with for this CEN.

Keep these ready:
- Class 10 certificate, for name, parents’ names and date of birth.
- 12th marksheet or certificate, with the date of result declaration.
- A signature scan in JPG/JPEG, 30 KB to 49 KB, minimum 140 × 60 pixels.
- SC/ST certificate in PDF, only if you want the free train travel pass.
- Category, EWS, EBC, disability or ex-servicemen documents, if claiming benefits.
Mistakes that can cost you the application:
- Submitting more than one application, to the same or different RRBs. This leads to rejection and debarment.
- Entering details that differ from the Class 10 certificate.
- Ignoring live-photo rules (no cap or glasses, plain white background).
Most corrections are possible only from 16 to 25 November 2026, at ₹250 each. Account details and the chosen RRB cannot be changed.
