What Has Happened Since 18 July
18 July: When we first published this page, the IBPS Clerk notification had not been released. Everyone was guessing at the number of vacancies, and nobody knew the dates.
1 August: IBPS cleared the confusion in one day. It issued a one-page advertisement with the tentative schedule, along with the full 74-page IBPS Clerk Notification 2026. Both are dated 1 August 2026. Online registration and fee payment opened the same day.
21 August: This was the last date to register and pay the application fee. After this, IBPS opened a short edit window of two days for candidates to correct their forms.
September: Pre-Examination Training (PET) was scheduled, and the Prelims call letters were due for download.
10 and 11 October: The online Preliminary exam was conducted.
Today: The Prelims result is the next big event. After it comes the Mains call letter, which IBPS has scheduled for November, and then the Mains on 27 December.

IBPS Clerk Prelims Result 2026: What We Know
The honest answer is that IBPS has not announced the exact result date. The notification only says November 2026.
For context, here is when the result came in recent years:
| Year | Prelims result date |
|---|---|
| 2025 | 20 November |
| 2024 | 1 October |
| 2023 | 14 September |
| 2022 | 21 September |
Since this year’s Prelims was in October, a November result fits the pattern. Please treat any “exact date” you see on social media as a guess until IBPS publishes a notice.
One rule people miss: in the Prelims, you must qualify in each of the three sections separately, not just in the total. A great score in two sections will not save you if you miss the sectional cut-off in the third.
How to Check the Prelims Result
- Go to ibps.in.
- Open the CRP section and choose CRP CSA-XVI.
- Click the Prelims result link once it goes live.
- Log in with your registration or roll number and your password or date of birth.
- Check your status and sectional marks, then download the scorecard.
Reset your password today if you have forgotten it, so you are not stuck at the worst moment. If something goes wrong, IBPS lists a grievance portal at cgrs.ibps.in.
IBPS Clerk Mains 2026 on 27 December: What to Expect
The Mains is where your final merit is decided. Your Prelims marks do not count here.
| Section | Questions | Marks | Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| General/Financial Awareness | 40 | 50 | 20 minutes |
| General English | 40 | 40 | 35 minutes |
| Reasoning Ability | 40 | 60 | 35 minutes |
| Quantitative Aptitude | 40 | 50 | 35 minutes |
| Total | 160 | 200 | 125 minutes |
Every wrong answer costs 0.25 marks, so guessing blindly can hurt you. Reasoning carries the most marks, which makes it worth your best revision hours.
Prelims Pattern (For Reference)
The Prelims was an online test of 100 marks and 60 minutes, split into English (30 marks), Numerical Ability (35 marks) and Reasoning Ability (35 marks), with 20 minutes for each. It is purely a qualifying round.
The Language Test (LLPT)
After the Mains, candidates provisionally allotted to a state must clear a Local Language Proficiency Test before joining. If your 10th standard or above shows that you studied that state’s official language, you are exempt. If you fail the test, the appointment does not go through, so do not ignore it.
IBPS Clerk Eligibility 2026
- Education: A graduation degree from a recognised university. The marksheet and result must be dated on or before 21 August 2026.
- Age: 20 to 28 years as on 1 August 2026, with relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC (non-creamy layer) and 10 years for PwBD.
- Computer skills: Working knowledge of computers is required.
- Language: You should be able to read, write and speak the official language of the state you applied for.
Application Fee
| Category | Fee |
|---|---|
| SC / ST / PwBD / ESM / DESM | ₹175 |
| All others | ₹850 |
IBPS Clerk Salary 2026
The basic pay for a Customer Service Associate starts at ₹24,050 and rises to ₹64,480 through increments. On top of that, you get allowances as per your bank’s rules, so your in-hand salary depends on your city of posting.
What To Do Right Now
Here is the plan I would follow in your shoes:
- Do not wait for the result to start Mains prep. The gap before 27 December is short, and waiting wastes your best weeks.
- Fix your weakest section first. Take a sectional test for each Mains subject and see where you lose marks.
- Make banking awareness a daily habit. Follow RBI updates on the Reserve Bank of India website and our banking current affairs.
- Keep your documents ready. You will need originals at document verification, including your category certificate if you claim a reservation.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. How many vacancies are there in IBPS Clerk 2026?
IBPS has announced 11,403 vacancies for Customer Service Associates across 11 participating public sector banks. Uttar Pradesh has the most posts (1,731), followed by Karnataka (1,414) and Maharashtra (1,051).
2. Can I still apply for IBPS Clerk 2026?
No. The notification was released on 1 August 2026, and online registration closed on 21 August 2026. Only candidates who completed their application and paid the fee within that window can move ahead in the process.
3. When will the IBPS Clerk Prelims result 2026 be declared?
IBPS has only said that the result will come in November 2026 and has not announced an exact date. To qualify, you need to clear the cut-off in each of the three Prelims sections, not just in the total score. Qualifying candidates will then receive their Mains call letter.
4. When is the IBPS Clerk Mains 2026, and what is the exam pattern?
The Mains is scheduled for 27 December 2026. It has 160 questions for 200 marks, to be solved in 125 minutes, across four sections: General/Financial Awareness, General English, Reasoning Ability and Quantitative Aptitude. Each wrong answer costs 0.25 marks, and you need to clear a minimum score in every section as well as in total.
5. Is there an interview in IBPS Clerk recruitment?
The notification lists the Prelims, the Mains and a Local Language Proficiency Test (LLPT), and does not mention an interview round. Final merit is prepared only on the basis of Mains marks. If you have a Class 10 or higher marksheet showing that you studied the local language of your state, you do not have to take the LLPT.
6. What is the salary of an IBPS Clerk?
The basic pay starts at ₹24,050 and goes up to ₹64,480 through increments. Allowances are added as per the rules of the allotted bank, so your take-home pay depends on the city of your posting.
